At Herman Miller, we believe that to do your best you have to be at your best. And being at your best requires a healthy body, mind, and spirit. A number of programs give employees concrete ways to maintain their health and well-being.
Health Risk Assessment
This helps employees become more aware of their health and more involved in improving their health habits. It also provides a financial reward for participating. Employees must complete a Health Quotient, establish health goals, and get a routine physical exam. In addition, they must do four health activities, such as riding in the Holland Hundred bike tour or taking classes on a range of health topics.

Safety
Our commitment is for every employee to leave work in the same condition they came. From the production floor to the workstation, from stacking products to adjusting seats ergonomically, we focus on safety in everything that we do. Our goals are:
One way we are pursuing these goals is through our participation in state and federal OSHA Voluntary Protection Programs. As a result of those efforts, four of our manufacturing sites have received Michigan STAR status. This program recognizes workplaces with an exemplary safety and health management system where injury and illness incidence rates are below the industry average for the last three years.
Our Behavioral-Based Safety Program relies on interactions and coaching between team members to reduce the kinds of accidents that cause most injuries. This program and our traditional safety programs continue to move our culture and employees towards safety excellence.
