A BETTER WORLD
"We contribute to a better world by pursuing sustainability and environmental wisdom.... By participating in the effort, we lift our spirits and the spirits of those around us."
--from Herman Miller's Corporate Values
Our values are the basis for Herman Miller's corporate community. One of the nine things that matter most to us is called "A Better World." For us, contributing to a better world takes many forms--environmental advocacy, volunteering time and contributing to nonprofit groups, acting as a good corporate citizen.
Our 2007 Better World Report is an update about our ongoing attempts to live up to our values. Are we perfect? Of course not. Do we keep making progress? Yes, we do. Building a better world for Herman Miller is not so much a goal as an everyday fact of life.
Like volunteerism and good corporate citizenship, environmentalism has been alive and well at Herman Miller for a long time. Our formal environmental programs and Environmental Quality Action Teams started in the late 1980s when a group of employees pushed senior management to take a strong position on the environment and take actions to back up the words. | |

Much of this report deals with our environmental actions--where we stand and where we intend to go.
I truly hope this report will give you some ideas about how you can join us.
