Herman Miller for Healthcare to Celebrate Sustainability in San Antonio
February 22, 2007   [E-mail Page]  [Print Page]

Herman Miller for Healthcare will showcase its latest sustainable product offerings at the 2007 International Conference and Exhibition on Health Facility Planning, Design, and Construction. Reflecting the theme "A Better World Together," the company will highlight its 55-year-old leadership in environmental stewardship and its ongoing progress toward sustainability in healthcare facility design and furnishings.

The company's exhibit will be located in Booth 701 at the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas, from February 25-28.

"We believe our presence at the show will encourage visitors to think about the advantages of building 'green' spaces," notes Kent Gawart, vice president of Marketing and Project Services for Herman Miller for Healthcare. "Our research shows that environmental design has a positive impact on healthcare staff and patients, which creates a win-win situation for everyone."

The Healthcare exhibit will include a care team zone matched with a Co/Struc C locker and a CT cart, and a nurses' station fitted with newly introduced products, including a Vivo Interiors workstation, an Aeron work stool, and a Mirra chair. A family area will be enhanced with Meridian lounge chairs from alliance partner Brandrud. The environmental story of each product will be posted within the display.

The sustainable Kira fabric also will be featured. Kira is a durable, high-performance, material made entirely from corn, which can be returned to compost at the end of its life. The fabric may be applied to systems panels, Vivo and Ethospace tiles, flipper doors, tackboards, and screens. Booth visitors can observe the cradle-to-cradle cycle of Kira in an informative beaker display.

"This exhibit is meant to emphasize Herman Miller for Healthcare's interest in building a better world by offering our customers the most innovative, flexible, modular products, together with our expertise in smart, sustainable building practices," adds Gawart.

The 2007 International Health Facility Planning, Design and Construction Show is sponsored by the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) of the American Hospital Association (AHA) in conjunction with the American Institute of Architects Academy of Architecture for Health (AIA/AAH).
