Herman Miller for Healthcare Introduces New Height-Adjustable Products
May 30, 2007   [E-mail Page]  [Print Page]

Herman Miller for Healthcare is introducing a new collection of automated, height-adjustable tables and specialized point-of-care carts at the NeoCon World's Trade Fair in Chicago's Merchandise Mart from June 11-13, 2007.

Shown in the Herman Miller National Design Center in Suite 321, the tables will complete a larger Co/Struc display of mobile, modular products from Herman Miller for Healthcare, according to Kent Gawart, vice president of Marketing and Project Services.

"We're committed to developing and delivering the most innovative and adaptable products for our customers," noted Gawart. "Most importantly, these products address ergonomics and safety for workers in healthcare environments."

Height-adjustable tables
The collection of tables includes three work surfaces that can be lowered and raised electronically by operating a switch and one table that can be manually adjusted. The work surface height can be adjusted from 26 inches to 42 inches. Additionally, all of the carts will contain a storage component underneath the work surface.

"The storage is key," noted Senior Product Manager Mark Roberts. "It will increase productivity and efficiency because it will eliminate the need to search for items that are necessary to complete a task. Everything a worker needs will be within reach."

The tables are available in several dimensions, including 24 inches to 42 inches by 48 inches to 72 inches. Two 30-inch wide tables, one of which can be raised and lowered manually, will be offered with a riser frame.

The riser frame can be used to support paper management trays, shelves, overhead storage units, and tool rails. It rises 38 inches above the surface and also is compatible with Herman Miller for Healthcare's Co/Struc products and casework.

"These tables offer flexible, ergonomic solutions for labor-intensive areas in healthcare facilities, including central sterile departments, pharmacy and laboratory spaces," said Gawart.

A pair of point-of-care carts
Height-adjustable point-of-care carts also will be introduced. Customers may choose a cart specific to a laptop computer or a flat panel monitor with a keyboard. The carts may be accessorized according to each customer's needs, including a CPU holder, a sharps container, a drawer, and a barcode scanner.

"These carts are essential to patient floors and especially emergency rooms to create a more efficient admitting process," added Roberts. "We saw the need to provide carts that could both adapt to the worker and the task. These carts fulfill that need."

The work tables and point-of-care carts will be available through Herman Miller for Healthcare in mid-June 2007.
