Herman Miller for Healthcare will highlight an unmatched portfolio of flexible, adaptable, and sustainable products for healing environments at the Herman Miller National Design Center during NeoCon 2007. The products will be shown in the company's showroom, Suite 321 of Chicago's Merchandise Mart, June 11-13, 2007.

"We believe our product solutions, together with the capabilities of our alliance partners, will inspire visitors to consider new possibilities for patient care," notes Kent Gawart, Vice President of Marketing and Project Services.

Height-adjustable tables and carts
Leading the new product introductions for Healthcare at NeoCon is a collection of automated, height-adjustable tables, and specialized point-of-care carts.

The collection of tables includes three work surfaces that can be lowered and raised electronically by switch, and an additional table design that can be manually adjusted. The work surfaces can be adjusted from 26 inches to 42 inches. Additionally, all of the carts will contain a storage component underneath the work surface.

A pair of height-adjustable, point-of-care carts also will be introduced. Customers may choose a cart specific to a laptop computer or a flat-panel monitor with a keyboard. The carts may be accessorized according to each customer's needs, and include a CPU holder, a sharps container, a drawer, and a barcode scanner.

Alliances partners
Herman Miller's recent marketing alliance agreement with Eagle Group broadens its ability to provide a range of solutions for materials management. Eagle is a leading manufacturer of high-quality wire shelving, stainless clean room furniture, stainless tables, sinks, and specialty stainless fabrication for healing environments. Eagle's extensive product portfolio focuses primarily on storage and transportation.

The company also is entering its third year of alliance partnerships with Brandrud and Bretford, Inc. Seating solutions from Brandrud, designed for patient rooms, exam rooms, treatment areas, and lobby and lounge spaces, coupled with Bretford's product solutions for technology and media, allow Herman Miller to address an array of areas within healthcare facilities.

Adds Gawart: "Our alliance partners allow us to build relationships with very specialized audiences. We're excited about these partnerships that together provide the best solutions available to our customers."

New colors for carts and Co/Struc
Senior Product Manager Mark Roberts believes the new color palette for healthcare carts and Co/Struc products will create more comfortable and soothing environments for healing. "The warmer color options reflect our commitment to bring nature-themed elements into healthcare spaces," Roberts said. "Research shows that nature has an effect on patient and employee wellness, which creates a win-win situation for everyone." Additionally, the company's commitment to providing nature-themed elements in healthcare also is evident in its color-naming process. Customers may now choose from a palette of new colors, including plum, aquamarine, juniper, and beach glass.

Sustainability
Herman Miller for Healthcare also will emphasize at NeoCon the company's legacy of environmental stewardship and ongoing strides toward sustainability in healthcare facility design and furnishings.

The quest for sustainability is demonstrated in Herman Miller's product-development process. It follows a demanding Design for the Environment (DfE) protocol, which emphasizes material chemistry, recycled content, ease of disassembly, and end-of-life recyclability. Its products undergo air quality testing to achieve GreenGuard certification. These efforts are essential to Herman Miller's Perfect Vision initiative, a plan to be a fully sustainable company by the year 2020.

"Herman Miller is committed to create a better healing environment by offering our customers the most innovative, flexible, modular products, together with our expertise in smart, sustainable-building practices," says Gawart.
