Sensory Sojourn Entices Visitors to Be Curious at Herman Miller's National Design Center in Chicago for the June 11-13 Industry Trade Show

Herman Miller is creating a NeoCon 2007 experience that is colorful, programmable, sustainable, educational, healthful, inspirational, virtual - and beautifully accessorized.

"This year at NeoCon, our space is all about the lively art of discovery," said Ray Kennedy, who oversees Herman Miller's merchandising approach for the annual trade show at Chicago's Merchandise Mart. "We're focusing on those discoveries that make our customers' lives more delightful, rewarding, and productive."

Discover NeoCon 2007

The Herman Miller National Design Center will be a feast for all the senses throughout the June 11-13, 2007, event. The showroom itself has undergone a dramatic refresh that expresses the vibrant Herman Miller spirit of innovation. The space will be resplendent in layers of seductive lighting and fresh, fragrant floral displays as a backdrop to innovative product solutions and intriguing possibilities for the future.

Visitors to the Herman Miller space, located in the Merchandise Mart's Suite 321, may choose from many paths of discovery, Kennedy noted. "There is an array of new products, new ideas, new knowledge, new applications," he said. "Really, there is something for everyone, whether they are looking for solutions and inspiration for the work environment, the healthcare environment, the learning environment, or the home."

Among the highlights of the Herman Miller space:

The Be Collection, a comprehensive portfolio of accessories, is being launched at NeoCon. The collection includes C2, a unique, desk-top personal climate control device that warms and cools, as well as a new task light called Ardea, designed by Yves Behar. The Be Collection also includes a next generation enhancement of the company's award-winning Babble voice privacy technology, Behar's celebrated Leaf light, and numerous other accessories for technology and work process support.

Convia, a programmable, modular electrical and data infrastructure developed by the Herman Miller Creative Office, Kennedy & Violich Architecture, Ltd., and Applied Minds, will be demonstrated in installations in the Herman Miller National Design Center, and in the nearby showroom of alliance partner, Bretford, Inc., Suite 330 in the Merchandise Mart.

Creative solutions for higher education and healthcare clients abound in the space, in addition to the breadth of workplace solutions Herman Miller offers.

For the first time at NeoCon, the Aeron Stool, with its ergonomic Fine Tune footring, will be displayed, as will three of the new and fresh colors in a vibrant palette of choices on the Eames Molded Plywood Lounge Chair with Wood Legs (LCW) in celebration of the birth of design legend Charles Eames 100 years ago on June 17.

Geiger is launching Caucus, a refined collection of lightly scaled tables designed by Robert Allen, while alliance partner Baker Manufacturing is showing NEXT, a series of height-adjustable freestanding tables, and alliance partner Bretford introduces its luminous Luce Collection.

NeoCon also marks the debut of a reinvented Colors, Materials and Finishes (CMF) collection for Herman Miller, with a CMF Wall in the showroom fairly bursting with new choices in textiles, leather, paint finishes, digital printing, and other solutions.

The showroom also will be previewing the Herman Miller Virtual World, a new 3D immersive experience in digital space. Using the Internet-based virtual world of Second Life, participants will get a glimpse into a new online community where people can learn and collaborate in new ways, within a unique Herman Miller virtual environment.

Additionally, Herman Miller's Environmental Affairs team will be on hand to converse with customers and share a host of unmatched environmental accomplishments achieved during the most recent fiscal year. The results are a reflection of the company's long-standing commitment to sustainability in all areas of its operations, including a new alternative to PVC (polyvinyl chloride) edgebanding on work surfaces, garnering the most LEED-certified buildings in its industry, and sustaining its position as the industry's largest user of renewable energy.

Altogether, visitors to the Herman Miller showroom will truly experience a journey of discovery, in new knowledge, new designs, and new environments.

The designs and services of Herman Miller enhance the performance of human habitats worldwide, making our customers' lives more productive, rewarding, delightful, and meaningful. The company's award-winning products and services generated over $1.7 billion in revenue during fiscal 2006. Recognized for both its innovative designs and business practices, Herman Miller is a recipient of the prestigious National Design Award for product design from the Smithsonian Institution's Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum. In 2007, the company was again cited by Fortune magazine as the "Most Admired" company in its industry and was included among CRO magazine's "100 Best Corporate Citizens." The company trades on the NASDAQ Global Select Market under the symbol MLHR.
