The Center for Health Design (CHD), a nonprofit research and advocacy organization that focuses on research about healthcare facility planning, design, and construction, today announced Herman Miller, Inc., as its first Research Partner.
"We always have admired Herman Miller's commitment to conducting research and using sound evidence as the foundation for its product design, and have appreciated the company's ongoing support over the years. It's a testament to the vision of the Herman Miller leadership that it has seized this opportunity to contribute through this partnership even more to the healthcare and design industry," said Debra J. Levin, CHD president and CEO. "Our hope is that other organizations will follow Herman Miller's lead in joining with us to further the body of knowledge that exists, thereby having an even greater impact on the industry at large."
Herman Miller, Inc., became affiliated with CHD in 1990 as a founding sponsor. Its three-year tenure as a Research Partner will enable the company to support and collaborate with CHD on proposed research initiatives and ongoing projects from among those prioritized by the CHD Coalition for Health Environments Research (CHER) committee.
"The mission of CHD fits well with Herman Miller's commitment to innovation and problem-solving design," said Beth Nickels, president of Herman Miller for Healthcare. "This is a mutually beneficial partnership for Herman Miller and we are pleased to act as a catalyst for a research agenda that will produce industry-leading knowledge that impact a variety of healthcare environments."
