Convia Programmable Infrastructure, the signature product of Convia, Inc. / A Herman Miller Company, has been chosen by a six-member jury of architects and designers to be featured among Architectural Record's most innovative new building products for 2007.
Over 300 products were selected for 13 categories for the publication's 35th annual Product Reports issue. Convia is featured in the Electrical category, as one of 25 products "that push the envelope of what is typically expected from offerings in that category," writes Rita Catinella-Orrell, products editor for Architectural Record.
Convia Programmable Infrastructure replaces the traditional "pipe and wire" approach to delivering electric in a space and allows for the complete virtual rewiring of an entire floor or building in just minutes, and at a fraction of the cost of traditional electric wiring. Switches, lighting, or other electrical devices become nodes on the network and are in constant communication with one another. Programming is simple via an easy-to-navigate portal or a two button wand.
The Product Reports are included in the publication's December 2007 issue.
