Herman Miller Welcomes the International Collection to North America
January 15, 2008   [E-mail Page]  [Print Page]

The International Collection from Herman Miller, Inc., brings a touch of European flair to the company's North American product portfolio in January 2008. Fashioned with four contemporary seating designs from leading Italian manufacturers, the International Collection adds comfort and playfulness to spaces designed for gathering or collaboration.

Introduced in 2006 as the Italia Collection to Herman Miller's international dealers, the designs are now accessible throughout Herman Miller's worldwide distribution channel.

Michele Falcone, managing director of Herman Miller's operations in Italy and the East Mediterranean region, explains the collection was developed as a response to the international rise in popularity for Italian designs. "While observing offices and showrooms from Australia to Dubai, it became apparent that Italian design is highly valued and continues to be sought for its beauty and quality. This presented a unique opportunity for us--as a central distributor for high quality Italian manufacturers."

The four products chosen for the collection represent items most favored by Herman Miller's international dealer community. Their appearance at the 2007 NeoCon World's Trade Fair in Chicago triggered increasing demand from Herman Miller's North American audience.

"The addition of these products to our seating portfolio allows us to provide a variety of options to customers seeking a contemporary yet fun approach to informal meeting spaces, lobby areas, lounge areas, and meeting rooms," says Andy Otteman, product marketing director for seating. "We also are able to present a cohesive seating offering to a worldwide audience without limiting its availability from one continent to another."

Mr. Nilsson
The Mr. Nilsson sofa by Milan's Duilio Forte embodies classic design stemming from the 1960's. Built on a solid wood frame, the sofa provides a level of comfort that matches its distinctive appearance. Available in a choice of sizes, colors, and finishes, it makes an immediate statement in a space.

Liza
Liza is an enduring adaptation of the bench's recognizable form. Created by Compagnia Italiana Progetto, a Milan-based design firm managed by award-winning designer Angelo Cortesi, this modern yet classic seating complements its surroundings in public spaces, whether indoors or outdoors. Made of anodized aluminum with die-cast legs, Liza can be configured with or without backs and side table elements.

Tato, Tatone, Tatino
Colorful and fun, these striking visual pieces brighten any room or space. A result of the collaboration between designers Denis Santachiara and Enrico Baleri, Tato, Tatone, and Tatino may be used alone or in combination. A flexible seat top and stabilizing base deliver surprising comfort. Tato, Tatone, and Tatino have removable covers available in a range of colors.

Capri
Capri is a luxurious seating solution suitable for casual or formal settings. Swiss designer Hannes Wettstein incorporated a unique flexible, reclining back that gives Capri an additional measure of comfort. Its die-cast aluminum feet and concealed casters provide the function needed for contract use.

The Herman Miller International Collection is available in a wide variety of colors, fabrics, and leathers. The products also carry a five-year warranty.
