A Work Chair Solution
Highly adjustable, long-term, lower-cost seating for computer work, general office tasks, and meetings.
Fully Adjustable
User control. The full complement of adjustments gives people control over their own comfort and support.
Quick reference. A permanent pull-out adjustment instruction card is at hand in the seat pan.
Innovative Tilt
In sync. Made of fiber leaf springs, the tilt provides synchronous seat and back movement.
Easy motion. The sitter can move fluidly between reclined and upright positions.
Consistent support. Users can stop, stay balanced, and be fully supported at any point in the wide recline range.
Ergonomic Comfort
Designed to fit. The contoured and generously sized seat and back cushions fit most people.
Standard upholstery. A fully upholstered outer back is standard, and the slipcover design makes it easy to change.
Arm support. Armrests are cantilevered from the back so the user's arms remain properly supported when reclining.
Room to move. The armrests leave the side of the seat open so the user can easily change positions--and even sit sideways.
Space Efficient
Ideal for smaller offices. The sitting area is larger than on comparable chairs, but the footprint isn't. |

Design Story
"Charles Eames felt that it was important to bring value to as many people as possible," says Reaction chair designer Jerome Caruso. "I agree with him, and I believe that the Reaction chair does that."
Reaction is a low-priced, fully adjustable chair that has all the quality and function of a Herman Miller product, Caruso explains. "My son Steven and I came up with a new concept of 'energizing' the chair. Using a composite spring that is made up of glass and fibers, we were able to achieve a very smooth ride.
"Designing all the support elements from plastic and making many of them multifunctional reduced the cost quite dramatically," he says, "and it's an easy chair to manufacture. But the engineering and design required to get there were quite intense."
