CAD Pack FAQ's

This section addresses some common questions and situations that may arise regarding CAD Pack software. For more information, please refer to the Help file and Tutorial provided with CAD Pack software.

Which versions of AutoCAD are compatible with the CAD Pack software?

CAD Pack is compatible with AutoCAD versions 2004 to 2010.

Is CAD Pack compatible with computer systems running 64-bit operating system?

Yes. The CAD Pack Product Browser now runs on 64-bit Windows operating systems, beginning with the August 2009 CAD Pack release. However, product placement into 64-bit versions of AutoCAD is still problematic, and may result in numerous errors if attempted. As a work-around, under placement options, choose "Copy to Clipboard" or "Save DWG As...", rather than your 64-bit AutoCAD version. In this way, products can still be placed into 64-bit AutoCAD by pasting from the clipboard or importing them from the file system. We hope to enable direct product placement into 64-bit versions of AutoCAD soon.

Am I able to download CAD Pack instead of ordering it on a DVD?

Yes. If you have a fast Internet connection, it is possible to download files. Download could take 3 hours or more depending on your connection speed. Contact CAD Pack Technical Support by phone or e-mail to request an FTP link.

Is CAD Pack software compatible with other CAD software?

Yes. The CAD Pack Product Browser has two new symbol placement options that allows the symbol to be copied to clipboard or saved as a DWG file. DWG files can be inserted into other CAD software such as AutoCAD LT, Google SketchUp and Revit Architecture.

Is CAD Pack software compatible with MicroStation?

Yes. The CAD Pack Product Browser will place AutoCAD symbols in MicroStation V8 or V8 XM software.

Does CAD Pack software run directly from the DVD or must it be installed to a local or network drive?

The CAD Pack software must be installed to either a user's local drive or a network drive. Approximately 2.4 gigabyte free disk space is required.

Does CAD Pack contain pricing?

No. You need to use the TakeOff Select Symbols and TakeOff Create SIF/Report functions in order to create a SIF file that can be read into Herman Miller's specIT program or a third-party specification software package.
