Herman Miller, Inc., Honored with International Industry Association's 'Design for Recycling' Award

Herman Miller has been recognized by the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, Inc. (ISRI) with its 2009 Design for Recycling award. Representing the collective voice of more than 1600 member companies, many with global operations, the award recognizes excellence in design innovation, together with the advancement of recycling throughout the design and manufacturing process. Herman Miller was presented with the award before several thousand member delegates on April 30, during the annual ISRI Convention and Exposition in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Paul Murray, Herman Miller's Director of Environmental Health and Safety, accepted the prestigious award, which was presented by former President Bill Clinton. Nominated by Michigan-based recycler Louis Padnos Iron & Metal, the company was selected from several notable finalists, including Toyota and Walmart. Past award winners include Hewlett Packard and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
