Herman Miller, Inc., has once again extended the problem-solving reach of its iconic Aeron chair. The new Aeron work stool combines high-performance seating technology and renowned comfort with the ability to adjust to higher work surface applications. The design will be introduced at the U.S. Green Building Council's 2006 Greenbuild Conference in Denver, Colorado, November 15-17.
Inspired by the internationally-acclaimed, award-winning Aeron chair designed by Bill Stumpf and Don Chadwick, the Aeron work stool incorporates the ergonomic and aesthetic features of the classic work chair, including its three finishes, Pellicle fabric options, active sacral support with PostureFit technology, and the Kinemat tilt.
Designed by Stumpf Weber and Associates, the Aeron work stool offers an innovative footring adjustment feature that is in keeping with Aeron performance. The patent-pending technology allows the user to adjust the footring independently of the stool's seat height adjustment, ensuring customized comfort and ergonomic support throughout the work stool's full height range.
"The footring adjustment is convenient because you don't have to climb off the chair to change the height," says Don Goeman, Executive Vice President of Research, Design and Development for Herman Miller. "There are a number of work settings that call for an elevated seating solution. The Aeron work stool offers innovative performance focused on the needs of those individuals."
The Aeron work stool is also available in two heights--a low option suitable for 36-inch surfaces, and a high option appropriate for 42-inch applications.
Developed according to Herman Miller's demanding Design for the Environment (DfE) protocol, emphasizing sustainable processes, materials, and recyclability, the Aeron work stool contains 68 percent recycled content and is 94 percent recyclable. In addition, the seat frame and back contain over 60 percent recycled content made from approximately 50 recycled two-liter plastic beverage bottles per chair. It also is Greenguard certified.
"We believe the Aeron work stool will enhance and extend the performance virtue of the Aeron chair, which is already recognized worldwide as the highest performing work chair of its kind," adds Goeman.
