Healthy Herman Miller
Eighty percent of our employees and 75 percent of their spouses completed a health risk assessment, biometric screening, and a routine physical. During the Level Up challenge, participants lost a total of 1,866 pounds, exercised a total of 2,421,496 minutes, and walked 660,526,722 steps.
Herman Miller Academy
This program allows a group of students in West Michigan to see and experience career opportunities in manufacturing and gain skills to prepare them to join the workforce. More than 80 Herman Miller employees volunteer as presenters and mentors.
In May 2013, we recorded a three-year total of 49,577 volunteer hours on the part of all Herman Miller employees, surpassing our goal of 45,000. Naturally we’ve set an even higher goal for the next three years.
Herman Miller Cares
Five employee-led “boards” now research organizations needing our help and contributions in five areas: Design, Arts, and Culture; Education; Health; Essential Human Needs; and the Environment. We call this program Herman Miller Cares.
Bath Rugby Foundation
Twenty Herman Miller employees in the U.K. contributed 150 hours to the Bath Rugby Foundation Inclusion Project, on top of a financial contribution, to help Bath Rugby staff provide a safe environment for children with different needs.
Advocacy in India
Volunteers from the Herman Miller team in Bangalore, India, have partnered with the Association of People with Disability to improve nutrition and fitness of local school children.
Inclusiveness Resource Teams
Eleven Inclusiveness Resource Teams—including eight in the U.S. and three in our international offices totaling over 300 employees worldwide—participated in over 80 internal initiatives and community outreach activities.
Our new 10-year sustainability strategy begins with positive transparency, products as living things, and becoming greener together. We have sharpened our goals around the smart use of resources, eco-inspired design, and becoming community driven.
