Herman Miller for Healthcare Powers Programmable Patient Room with Convia at 2009 ASHE Conference and Exhibition

March 02, 2009

Herman Miller for Healthcare will highlight possibilities for programmable patient rooms with Convia Sustainable Infrastructure at the annual International Conference and Exhibition on Health Facility Planning and Construction in Phoenix, Arizona, March 8-11, 2009. The event is sponsored by the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE).

A signature product of Convia / A Herman Miller Company, Convia Sustainable Infrastructure is transforming the traditional approach to delivering and managing electric power. Its installation above the Herman Miller for Healthcare Patient Care Zone display in Booth 411 at the Phoenix Convention Center will allow conference attendees to view virtual rewiring of space in just minutes.

"Convia creates several opportunities for new and existing healthcare facilities, says Roger Call, director of A&D, Herman Miller for Healthcare. "Its ease of installation and operation allows spaces, including patient rooms, to become more flexible and adaptable, plus it may serve an integral role in energy and cost saving strategies, which is not the case with traditional rewiring methods."

Together with Convia, the company will exhibit the recently introduced Nala and Cente patient chairs by Brandrud / A Herman Miller Company. The award-winning chairs are designed to provide patients and caregivers a ground-breaking reference point for comfort and control.

"Providing operational and health-positive benefits to our customers is key," adds Call. "By understanding the needs that exist within healthcare environments, we're able to develop solutions that improve efficiency and enhance the patient and caregiver experience."

The 2009 International Conference and Exhibition on Health Facility Planning and Construction is sponsored by the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) of the American Hospital Association (AHA), in conjunction with the American Institute of Architects Academy of Architecture for Health (AIA/AAH).
