Herman Miller, Inc., Garners 'Best of Year' and "Attendees' Choice" Product Awards

December 11, 2009

Herman Miller's latest designs have garnered multiple awards in recent days. Interior Design magazine's Best of Year product awards and the National Ergonomics Conference and Exposition both recognized the company with top honors.

This year's Best of Year awards were presented at an evening gala on December 3, 2009, at New York's Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. The competition acknowledges entries that represent distinction in product design. Herman Miller's Envelop desk received the Best of Year award in the Furniture: Contract/Desking and Systems category, while the Setu chair received the award for the Seating: Contract/Conference category. The Embody chair was awarded for Merit in the Seating: Contract/Task category.

More than 30,000 votes were cast by the international architecture and design community through the publication's website, in more than three dozen product categories. A list of Best of Year product award winners is available at www.interiordesign.net.

Earlier, the 15th Annual National Ergonomics Conference and Exposition in Las Vegas, Nov. 17 - 20, 2009 was again the largest annual gathering of ergonomics decision makers and vendors held in the U.S., with nearly 900 attendees representing the U.S., Canada, and a dozen foreign countries. The Attendees' Choice Awards were based on voting for the new products "most likely to increase productivity and profitability, while improving workplace health and safety." Herman Miller's Envelop desk received the honor, for its unique ability to support fully reclined work postures while maintaining optimal physical and visual connection to keyboard and display.
