Herman Miller Offers Insight and Interaction at Design & Health World Congress & Exhibition
June 16, 2014
Herman Miller to present variety of health design educational sessions in conjunction with a ‘playful’ interactive display in Toronto, July 9 - 13
The 10th Design & Health World Congress & Exhibition will be held in Toronto from July 9-13, 2014.
The event is produced by the International Academy for Design & Health, a global, interdisciplinary knowledge community dedicated to the stimulation and application of research concerning the interaction between design, health, science & culture to promote human health, wellbeing and quality of life through environmental design.
Herman Miller Healthcare will host a number of educational presentations during the conference, in addition to allowing attendees an opportunity to tap into their “playful” side on the exhibit floor.
Optimizing Performance Through Design
On the afternoon of Thursday, July 10 at 1:30 p.m., Lynda Cannell, Chief Operating Officer, Fortius Sport & Health will present on “Human-Centered Design to Optimize Human Performance and Client Experience” on the Showcase area on the main exhibit floor.
Fortius Sport & Health is an integrated athlete development center that provides centralized convenience for clients and a state-of-the-art facility for practitioners, designed to foster integration, collaboration and innovation. This case study will illustrate how Fortius created an inspirational, human-centered design to promote working, healing and living well.
Future of Work: 2018
On Friday, July 11 from 7:30 - 8:30 a.m., Herman Miller will host a breakfast presentation entitled “Future of Work in Healthcare: Scenarios 2018,” featuring John Roberts, Research & Workplace Strategist and Julie Sless, Vice President Healthcare – both from Herman Miller Canada.
Scenarios 2018 will explore Herman Miller’s hypothesis and resulting conclusions about how work might change globally by 2018. This presentation will provoke broader and deeper thinking, reflection, learning, conversation and create a shared understanding of possible implications to the design of healthcare facilities in the future.
Herman Miller will have two offerings within the conference’s poster presentation lounge: “LEAN Journeys & Adaptive Spaces” presented by Herman Miller Healthcare Design Strategists Jill Joseph and Kim Montague and a poster presentation on “Fortius Sport & Health - Human Centered Design to Optimize Human Performance and Client Experience.”
Sit, Spin & Learn
As a bit of an oasis in the main exhibit hall, Herman Miller will also feature an interactive exhibit of Spun chairs. Attendees will be able to learn more about Herman Miller Healthcare and take a fun, invigorating and hopefully inspiring “sit & spin” break in the midst of the conference.
