Herman Miller's Los Angeles Showroom Receives Calibre Award

The Herman Miller Los Angeles showroom recently was honored by the IIDA Southern California chapter with a 2010 Calibre award in the Retail/Showroom category. The award was announced during the chapter's Calibre awards ceremony at the Century Plaza Hotel on Friday, May 14, 2010.

The Calibre awards honor design excellence and the consultant teams that have gone beyond the usual expectations of the design profession. Design firm tvsdesign nominated the showroom, which was one of six finalists in its category.

A former warehouse built in 1956, the company's 18,000-square-foot showroom located at 3641 Holdrege Avenue was completed in September 2009 and it also includes numerous environmentally sensitive design elements to create a space that serves as an example of the company's commitment to create a better world. Sustainable features in the LEED (CI) Platinum certified showroom include energy efficient light fixtures and occupancy sensors throughout the space, as well as MBDC, BIFMA level and GREENGUARD certified products and materials, to assure an environmentally responsible interior and superior indoor air quality.
