February 5, 2013
Herman Miller Healthcare and Nemschoff, a Herman Miller company, are proud to announce Roger Call, director of healthcare architecture and design, has been elected president of the The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Academy of Architecture for Health (AAH). In this role, Call, who has more than 30 years experience in healthcare architecture, will be responsible for leading the nonprofit organization’s more than 7,000 members to improve both the quality of healthcare design and the design of healthy communities in 2013.
“Roger’s leadership and passion for designing safe, efficient healthcare environments epitomizes the Herman Miller Healthcare belief that healthcare spaces have the potential to transform how caregivers work and patients feel,” said Louise McDonald, president, Herman Miller Healthcare. “There’s no doubt that, as AAH president, he will excel at bringing this shared mission of improving the healthcare experience to the forefront, while inspiring AAH members to do the same.”
A nonprofit AIA knowledge community, AAH brings together top industry professionals to advance healthcare design by conducting research and educating design practitioners and constituents. Call’s recent appointment as president by the board aligns with AAH’s and longstanding supporter Herman Miller Healthcare’s collective vision to educate the design community and advance the future of healthcare design.
For his year-long term as president, effective Jan. 1, 2013, Call’s aim is to bring more opportunities to participate in AAH forums at the regional level, promoting membership diversity and encouraging all individuals to be an active part of the healthcare design conversation. An AAH board member since 2008 and a director for Herman Miller for more than 25 years, Call’s rich history and experience within healthcare design will be a valued asset in advancing the organization’s mission in the year ahead.
