Survey Recognizes Herman Miller Top Furniture Brand in Seating, Systems, Healthcare, and Environmental Sustainability

January 20, 2012

Architectural and design professionals participating in Contract magazine's 2011 Brand Report Awareness Survey have once again named Herman Miller and its subsidiaries as their preferred source for key furnishings in the workplace and healthcare environments.

Herman Miller was the top choice in both Ergonomic Seating and Furniture Systems, representing the two largest product categories in the North American office furnishings industry by production volume. Additionally, subsidiary Nemschoff and Herman Miller Healthcare were named the #1 and #3 brands respectively for healthcare furnishings. The company also ranked among the most preferred brands in numerous other product categories for office, education and hospitality spaces.

The 2011 survey also introduced a new question, asking design professionals "Which do you consider to be the most environmentally sustainable manufacturer(s) serving our industry?" Herman Miller took top honors among all furniture companies, confirming its industry leading position based on many decades of commitment to environmental design, architecture, and operations.

Contract magazine's Brand Report is an independent survey using a random sample of architecture and design professionals. Respondents are asked to identify their top three preferred manufacturers when purchasing or recommending products in each of 32 categories. More than 400 respondents participated in the survey administered by Aspen Media and Market Research.
