An unusual pairing—traditional handcraftsmanship and digital production technologies—helps take woodworking
to new limits in the Udine, Italy-based factory of Mattiazzi. Since its founding in 1978 by brothers Nevio and Fabiano Mattiazzi, the manufacturer has steadily created a unique network of highly specialized wood shops with the ability
to support everything from milling to lacquering, all under one roof. At the same time, the brothers have continually invested in the most sophisticated machinery available, including technology that allows wood to take on the complex shapes normally associated with injection-
molded plastic.
As a result, Mattiazzi has built a reputation for producing beautiful wood furnishings that continually push boundaries. Its expertise in combining high- and low-tech processes has attracted leading designers such as Konstantin Grcic, Nitzan Cohen, Sam Hecht, and Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec—and its dedication to craft, industry, and sustainable practices make Mattiazzi a natural fit for offering both outdoor and indoor pieces in partnership with the Herman Miller Collection.
