Versatility and Choices
The unusually extensive variety of sizes, shapes, and finishes of Eames tables means you can have the kind of table you want. It all results from the ingenious modular base that Charles and Ray Eames designed, which makes for a very versatile line.
Bases: The segmented base can be configured to support table tops from 30 inches to 22 feet long. Two other base styles—contract and universal—are available on smaller tables to fit any budget. All tables have adjustable glides.
Tops: Inch-thick tops come in four shapes—rectangle, oval, round, and square—and 36 sizes. All can be combined with one of the three bases, which means lots of versatility.
Finishes: All table tops are available in laminates and veneers, each with vinyl or veneer edges. Selected sizes are available with natural stone tops. A number of finish options are available for columns and bases too.
Indoor and Outdoor: Tables with all three types of bases and with natural stone tops are suitable for outdoor and indoor use. Tables with laminate and veneer tops work well indoors.
Strength
The design simplicity of Eames segmented-base tables make them strong and durable. A bolt that runs the full length of the steel leg column keeps the segmented base together through years of heavy use. On larger tables, steel spreaders provide stability.
Easy Assembly
Tables assemble easily, for cost efficiency and quick parts replacement. They also disassemble easily, so parts can be recycled after many years of use.
Earth-Friendly
Eames tables are made of 79% recycled materials and are 52% recyclable at the end of their long useful lives. Steel and aluminum components are 100% recyclable. Eames tables may contribute to LEED credits because of their returnable/reusable packaging, durability, pre-consumer recycled content, post-consumer content, and GREENGUARD certification.
Design Story
In 1964, the office of Charles and Ray Eames designed a table with a single segmented base, constructed of modular units that could support tops of different lengths and widths.
Today, more than 40 years later, Eames tables remain a popular choice for those who appreciate durability and performance, as well as sleek and simple beauty.
