Regardless of age, everyone overwhelmingly prefers face-to-face communication. That shared preference doesn’t translate into everyone seeing the office in the same way. Boomers see the office as a place to connect to people; for Gen Xers, it’s a place to connect to technology. They also have different ideas about social media. Forty percent of Millennials think blogging about work-related issues is acceptable, while only 28 percent of Boomers do. Learning in the office goes both ways, though, and Boomers are adopting technology behaviors that used to be unthinkable to them, like using laptops in a meeting.
