Best of Year Awards Put Herman Miller in the Spotlight
Last week’s Best of Year Awards—Interior Design magazine’s design competition recognizing superior interior design projects and products in all categories—highlighted three products from Herman Miller: the Envelop desk, the Setu chair, and the Embody chair.
Envelop won the Best of Year Award in the Furniture: Contract/Desking & Systems category, while Setu received the award for the Seating: Contract/Conference category. Embody was noted for its Merit Award in the Seating: Contract/Task category.

Love the Envelop desk – that picture of the guy just leaning back to relax and propping his feet up on the foot rest under the desk is great. Being comfortable while I work always helps me focus longer and more clearly.
I actually have a wooden editor’s desk that has a great angle for reading and drafting. It’s just too big to use in conjunction with my computer desk. I like that the Envelop desk offers both flat and slanted angles in the same work surface.
I do think it should have a lip to catch pens and pencils that would othwise roll off. But then – I’m still kind of old fashioned! I guess a raised border wouldn’t be comfortable to rest your forearms on.
