Good Goods: From Furniture to Footwear

Shoes from United Nude
The designs of Charles and Ray Eames are certainly timeless, but who ever thought they would influence footwear?
Dutch architect Rem D. Koolhaas, along with designer and entrepreneur Galahad Clark, started the shoe company United Nude. Koolhaas told Dazed Digital that each single pair of shoes is a reinterpretation of an architectural object or represents an exploration of different materials and colors.

Inspired by Eames Aluminum Group chairs, the “Eamz” series–featuring pumps, lace-ups, boots, and Mary Janes–integrates the detail of the chair foot in their heels. The design seems to suspend the shoe in mid-air, giving the surreal impression that the wearer is almost fluctuating in a zero gravity environment.
