Small Dogs Electronics invites employees' dogs to work
A recent survey by the American Pet Products Association (APPA) found that nearly one in five U.S. companies now allow pets at work. Many of these pet-friendly offices belong to small startups (my personal favorite, Small Dog Electronics, devotes a page on its website to employee and customer dogs) probably because with fewer employees it’s easier to reach consensus on issues like pet hair and squeak toys. But larger businesses are also signing on.

I would absolutely love it if I could bring my Monster into the office. He is a big stress relief and mood lifter.

At Studio Number One a graphic design company in Los Angeles some designers bring their dogs to work and the atmosphere simply feels wonderful.

Wow, where I worked last the owner would pitch a fit if a driver so much as drove on to the property with a pet in his/her truck. Of course, they wouldn’t allow kids through the gates either – since minors couldn’t be legally bound by their arbitration agreement.

It would be nice to work in a more pet friendly atmosphere. Lots of dogs are well behaved enough to integrate into an office environment as long as people are willing to just chill a little. That’s much kinder than leaving a dog alone in a small apartment all day.

Too bad that some people suffer from such severe allergies that this idea, while great in concept, could prove to be very limiting for some employees and customers.
