Backyard Office

Here’s a new take on the backyard home office. It’s called the Sustainsia Cocoon and is 8′ by 12′ modular prefab with a lovely curvey interior.

I am in love with this concept, of a double door outdoor studio, the wood helps it fit into the surroundings. Cant wait to move my studio to the back yard.
and what does one of these fetching modular offices cost?
This is definitely going in my “Dream” scrapbook. What a treat it would be to go out to that little office retreat with a cup of chai in the mornings!
I love it. I am with Jeremy, perfect studio space for artists. It would also make a great “get away” home for those stressed by everyday life.
Wow – what an attractive price for such gorgeous design. Love!

Cerentha,
We love that we caught the discerning designer eye of Herman Miller, but more so, that you have helped us to show to a wider audience that backyard offices can be more than just boxy typical sheds. We sometimes refer to the Cocoon as the “Un-cubicle.” Of course more than just a work space that is designed with the needs of the telecommuter in mind, the little building we make here in Oaklanad, CA can also serve a wide array of uses. My personal favorite is that of a home theater, or simply a great place to relax and listen to music. The inside curves are designed to focus sound energy, and lots of insulation ensures that the outside noises stay on the outside and the inside space is kept acoustically separate. Of course, I’m sure your creative readers will be able to think of a lot more uses for the Cocoon than I can list here. Thanks again for the mention, and if you or your readers are in Oakland, we can arrange a showing of the showcase unit you pictured above.
Best Regards,
Thomas
