I love dogs. I love my husband and kids too, but I don’t bring them with me into work. Co-workers talking baby talk to their pets and running around the halls with them are distracting and annoying. Nearly tripping over them and getting snapped at is more so. I wish my co-workers would be more considerate.

I have been a consultant working out of my home office for 16 years. My dogs have beds in my office, under my worktable. They sleep as I work and are great company in what would normally be a solitary work life. I have worked in firms where dogs are allowed to visit and I find it improves the environment tenfold.

Willoughby Design in Kansas City, MO is a dog friendly workplace! We even have a “dog wall” with pictures of all our pets. It does create a more relaxed environment for creativity to flow. I’ve even been encouraged to bring in Colby my French Bulldog rescue when clients are coming in. He’s a low key cutie that always makes everyone smile.
