Ideas Worth Spreading

TED just finished up and for all of us who didn’t get to attend (and that was a lot of us) the foundation is slowly rolling the talks out. There’s a lot of talks and I’m always overwhelmed at where to start. GOOD has published a very handy Top 10 that includes a fascinating talk from Bill Gates on the importance of innovating so we get to zero carbon emissions. He’s smart, clear and concise and this is also something that we think a lot about at Herman Miller (see our “Zero is Hero” video to get an idea of where the company is heading).
I absolutely love the TED talks. I would refer to them as my favorite time wasters but I really think they are a valuable and challenging resource that everyone can benefit from being exposed to. My best of TED talks collection would definitely have to include this one by Jill Bolte Taylor http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/jill_bolte_taylor_s_powerful_stroke_of_insight.html
There was also one last year on bacteria and quorum sensing that totally changed my perspective on how single celled organisms communicate and evolve.
It’s good to see Herman Miller leading the way by making it clear that zero carbon emissions is practical and doable.
Thanks and keep up the good work!
