Where we’ve been this week…
1. Four – as in four-legged friends. It takes a lot to get me to linger on a pet’s site so this wonderfully designed doggy destination was a surprise. Check out their post on Kuntzel+Deygas who painted the Eames chair below.
2. Designer Alvin Aronson‘s site for this cool prototype of a perfectly white digital clock.
3. Design Milk for their post on this pencil holder from Giha Woo.
4. Swissmiss for her post on Instagram – an obsession I share. It’s a lithe little bit of social media perfect for capturing just about everything and now it looks like the pics can be accessed more easily, making it an even better work tool.
5. Cool Hunting for the story on all-natural cleaning porducts. Perfect for getting that desktop sparkling.
6. Wallpaper magazine for their lovely “Letter from Japan” architecture update. Below – House in Seya, Kanagawa, by Suppose Design Office.
7. Design Applause‘s coverage of Belkin’s green power strip.
8. Dwell’s excellent “Small Spaces” series (the house below is the most recent addition to the series).
9. A Brief Message for Hugh Graham’s short essay on design – “We have the opportunity and the responsibility to create a world where each object and experience is filled with value, where living with less but better is both joyful and meaningful.” We couldn’t agree more.
10. Field Notes new red notebooks. I use these little notebooks in the car and always have one on hand in my purse. Nicely designed, small and light weight.

2. Life magazine has made their photo archives available online via Google and there’s a treasure trove of images including the shot above of Ray and Charles Eames at and the wall storage unit below by George Nelson that caught DJ De Pree’s eye in 1945.
3. Selectism for the piece on the Ro briefcase (below) designed by New Yorker Yvonne Roe who now lives and designs in Italy.
4. Saatchi Online for some affordable art for your home office. M10 by Thomas Hammer (below) is $54.
5. Architectural Record for their great collection of residential work.

1. Dezeen for their London Design Festival coverage. Above is British designer Sebastian Bergne with the greenhouse he designed made from of Lego in London’s Covent Garden.
2. Room 100 is Thompsons Hotels’ blog and they often have good design stories. Check out David Byrne’s artwork under the Highline in NYC.
3. Culture Monster for Christopher Hawthorne’s post on the legacy of the Case Study program . The living room in Charles and Ray Eames’ Case Study house below.
4. Cool Hunting for their review of Thames and Hudson’s new book Total Office Design.

Where we’ve been this week… 
1. Fast Company for their United States of Design stories. Nice to see that we made the “30 Companies That Get It” List.
2. LA Curbed for their great news gathering. They were the first to show LACMA’s California Design, 1930-1965: “Living in a Modern Way” exhibition actually getting installed in the Resnick Pavilion (they grabbed the shots from the LACMA blog). The show includes the real Eames living room taken from their Case Study house in the Palisades. When we were at the house in June Eames Demetrios talked about the careful dismantling of the living space and how it would give them the opportunity to do much needed repairs to the building. The show is part of a larger designe event called Pacific Standard Time.
3. Chair*Stalker is a simple image-driven tumblr blog about…chairs. Well worth a look if you are interested in design.
4. Crane.tv’s coverage of Milan’s Salone del Mobile – you almost feel like you’ve been there.
5. ReCraft for their take on Eames wire chairs (below).
6. Eichler Network for their piece on mid-century modern architect Edward H. Fickett.
7. Los Angeles Times Home blog’s Landmark Houses series. The 2005 photograph below is of publisher Benedikt Taschen at work in his home – John Lautner’s iconic Chemosphere.
8. Fuel Your Writing for their Writing Spaces tours. Sneak a peak inside the shed where Roald Dahl wrote his novels.
9. Online interiors Lonny magazine turns two. See the latest issue here.

2. Freshome for their post on 30 Scandinavian home offices (including this one complete with a black Eames Molded Plastic chair above).
3. Birch + Bird Vintage Home for their post on creating a shared workspace.
4. Simple Style is a Chinese online design magazine (click on translate to get it to English). I like their link and pic of Offcut Design’s office supplies.
5. Architizer for its post on the R.R. House in Sao Paulo, Brazil. It brings to mind the Eames House with the way it opens on one side to the site through a gridded glass facade (below).
6. Materialicious for the post on 10 interesting home offices. It’s always nice to see so many Herman Miller pieces!

1. CondeElevator on Twitter. I know it’s shallow but these tweets makes me laugh. This person publishes comments they overhear in the Conde Nast elevator – mostly snippets from Vogue employees.
2. App.Itize.Us is a great spot to find new apps.I love the Crouwelclock by Dutch designer Wim Crouwel (below). Thanks to Lifework reader Marc for the tip.
3. Kitka for their post on designer David Ericcson. Great workspace.
4. Design Skool for their coverage of Estudio Manus (office below).
5. Better Living Through Design because they’ve got a great eye for interiors and homewares. I really like the desk set by Mateo Ilasco.
6. BKids for their tour of Nerissa Coco’s home and office (below).
7. It’s Nice That is a beautifully designed blog and curated on art and design (check out the cat scan!)
8. Found By James is a site that offers up objects discovered by global traveller “James”. These pocket pencils, which he found in London, are wonderful.
9. red.house for their interiors coverage including this Swedish apartment in Malmo (below).
10. Design Observer for their poetry posts. It’s so nice to come across contemporary poems in this context. Thoughtful addition to a great site.
