1. Phaidon’s Agenda lets the book publisher showcase their great nose for a design, architecture or art story. The stories here are not confined to the book’s they’ve published. It’s a smart way for the brand to get the word out about new books and at the same time feed our design appetite.

2. The Design Files for Lisa Madigan’s home and home office (below).

3. Houzz for it’s collection of home offices. Can you tell I’m looking for new spaces.
4. Wanken for the post on an incredible holiday house in Argentina – it would make the perfect backyard office.

5. Kinfolk is a gorgeously designed new online food magazine. Now I know what to have for lunch.

6. Design Sponge’s Sneak Peek because it’s nice to see the Eames Molded Plastic chair with dowel legs mixed with other pieces so beautifully.

7. De Vetpan Studio’s blog for its luscious photography and their review of a Wacom Bamboo iPad Stylus.

8. Fast Company’s story on a bamboo bike where the frame is grown in shape.

Powers of Ten, Flipbook from Joe Marianek on Vimeo.
10. NPR’s 3-Minute Fiction for the perfect work break. Great stories that take 3 minutes to read.

Where we’ve been this week…

1. AIA’s Architect Barbie’s House Competition. Yes, that is a home office complete with an Eames Lounge Chair (above).
2. Rupert Murdoch and the “pie” incident. I was amazed by two things here – how quickly Murdoch’s wife Wendy Deng literally jumped to her husband’s defense and how good the Eames Aluminum Group Chairs look in that deep green!
3. Beyond the Cubicle by Allison Arieff. Arieff’s article includes an interview with our very own Lifework contributors – artist Rebecca Niederlander and architect Iris Anna Regn.
4. Web Design Ledger for their post on excellent iPad Apps. Check out the Awesome Note HD as a good organizing tool (below).

6. Coudal Partners for their link to these amazing 1960s Japanese office spaces (above). Herman Miller abounds!
7. The Journal of Dustin Heerkens for its beautifully-presented content covering design, art, hotels and food in East Asia (below). My next vacation spot may just have to be the Waterhouse.

8. Grain & Gram for raising up our work lives to an elegant art. I love the piece on butcher Ben Runkle.
9. Fox Johnston Architecture. These two Australian architects do amazing work and this website is a testament to their careful eye. I can see working away on my laptop from this sofa.
10. DWR’s Design Notes for their post on a cool little Vipp Bin trashcan icon to replace the wire basket that now sits on your desktop.

Where we’ve been this week…
1. Green Retreats for their wonderful backyard “offices”. It’s a UK-based business and it doesn’t look like they ship to the States. But it’s well worth a look just for the inspiration. We’re set for a 100 degree heat over the 4th of July weekend and I’m thinking a backyard retreat like one of these would be a perfect escape!
2. Wired for their piece on a hot tub maker who now does cedar home offices for the backyard.
3. Mocoloco for it’s Airstream home office. The main image is a bit fuzzy but you get the idea.
4. Cubicle 17 for its simple design and blogger Bill Israel‘s mixology skills. He may be a software developer but that Bitter Mai Tai looks mighty good. The perfect end-of-workday cocktail.
5. Billings for its excellent – and simple – billing system. Keep track of your money this summer.
6. Roomzaar’s home office gallery lets you see a ton of real spaces (some made me feel very good about my corner of the kitchen!) and rate them. Great for ideas…
7. Making It My Style for the post on Scandinavian grand design – love those Eames Aluminum Group chairs in the home office
8. My Paradissi is a picture-driven blog from a young Greek architect with a nice sense of style. Great for sun-drenched, white-washed Greek interiors.
