Design for You: Leaf Light

By

Our Design for You competition continues. This week the prize is Yves Behar’s Leaf Light.

It’s amazing what a good desk lamp can do nowadays. The Leaf Light works hard on a number of levels. It’s an elegant design that uses as little material as possible with 96% of the finished object being recyclable. Its LED system allows you, with the slide of a finger, to change the light from warm to cool. And, as with all Behar’s work, it looks good. To enter to win simply leave your email address here and we will place you in the draw for the light and all the upcoming prizes.

Smart Light

By

“There’s a battle going on, a never ending battle with cords. We’ve come close to declaring peace, but we’re still not quite there. We’ve come across many great quick fixes for cable management, and designers are still releasing products — when will it end?

T’Light is the newest product to join the fight against unruly cords. It’s an LED light, charging station and charging dock all in one. It certainly looks promising and we’re happy to see that it serves more than just one function.

T’Light has a 3 watt LED lamp on top that will provide about 50,000 hours of light. It’s really the base that is where it gets good and starts to sound a little promising. There’s a built in iPhone dock for charging — we appreciate this because we own an iPhone, but we’re not sure it was smart the T’Light to only offer one model. What about Android users?

Besides the iPhone dock, there’s a USB port and a jack for charging laptops — but no adapter for a Macbook which we think is odd. The T’Light isn’t cheap either, it’s selling for $90.

So, the search continues for an all around, universal cable management system that packs a few extra charging punches too.

ICFF: What’s New?

By

That’s the question lots of people are asking. There’s the George Nelson Basic Cabinet Series which we posted on earlier this week. There’s also Klein Reid’s elegant new lamp. They designed it just for the booth but with all the attention it’s receiving who knows where the walnut-based piece may end up! What do you think? A new addition perhaps to Herman Miller’s product offer?

Etsy and Dee Adams’ Studio

By

deeadamsinterior1

The editors over at Etsy liked Dee Adams’ Oakland home and studio so much they’ve included it in their Get The Look: Decor section. Christine, a writer and editor at Etsy, took the studio as a starting point and put together an amazing list of furniture and objects all from Etsy sellers. She’s done a great job. Here’s just a few of the cool things she found.

1. A red in/out tray from Found Vintage Style.

2. Orange desk lamp from Vintage on the Make.
