Where we’ve been this week…

1. Ironic Sans Get inside the head of professional photographer, David Friedman. It’s a very interesting place. Where to start: The animated subway tiles.

3. Jetson Green Lots of architecture-driven green information with strong pictures. Where to start: A treehouse home office.

4. Eloise Moorehead A pretty, slightly weird, thoroughly entertaining blog from a woman who is obsessed with everything from Vitruvius to Walter Gropius. Just like Ironic Sans, you feel like you are right inside the head of a fascinating mind. Where to start: Begin at the top and wander down.

5. Junk Culture Blog from a Massachusetts-based artist and graphic designer. Where to start: Things to do with Chopsticks…who knew?!

This week on the web…

1. Core77 Since we can’t be in London for Design Week we’ve got to rely on the savvy guys at Core77. Where to Start: Their photo coverage of the week so far is great.

2. Stamen As you can imagine this blog from design and technology group Stamen is beautifully put together. But it’s not just a pretty face. I can’t think of too many other sites where you’ll read about Justin Bieber and the reinvention of maps for Bing (Stamen were the design house behind that rather lovely reinterpretation). Where to Start: With the post on maps.

3. One in 8 Million This one falls into that Stop Work category. If you need a break check out this collection of stories about New Yorkers on The New York Times site. Where to start: I like the  ”Jim Romana: The Tabloid Photographer.”

4. Elle Decor’s LookBook An excellent source for inspirational interior images. Where to Start: Their home office collection is packed with  great spaces.

5. Design Boom An online magazine for the design and architecture crowd. Where to start: The post on tiny houses. I came across it in my search for unusual backyard workspaces.

2. Absolutely Beautiful Things A design blog from Australian interior designer Anna Spiro. Where to start: The post on Mariska Meijers’ home.

3. Creature Comforts A recent renovation of this site offers up a lot of design news with a pretty punch. Designer Ez (pronounced Ee-zee) is an intrepid blogger with a nice eye. Where to start: She oftens covers office spaces. Check out this one for a fresh hit of yellow.

4. The Happy Home Real Living magazine’s web editor Belinda Graham puts this interiors’ blog together. And she does a lovely job. Where to start: A great post on the use of black in interiors. Black office anyone?

5. Hotel Chatter OK. I know! This has very little to do with the home office. But one of the things that I do when I take a break from writing is check out this blog and dream about all the places I could vacation. I love it’s tone, the gossipy nature of it and that it breaks news. You’ll often get inside a great hotel here before it officially opens. Where to start: From the top of course!

This week on the web:

1. Design By Proxy OK, so interior designer Susan Stewart likes Herman Miller. But besides that she has a great eye for interiors and her blog features really nice work. Where to start: Stewart’s take on the amazing Rosa Muerta.

2. The New Yooxer A site that is so cool there is no About section. All I can tell you is their design coverage is spot on. Where to start: The Milan Furniture Fair Report.

3. Yellowtrace Dana Hughes, an interior designer from my hometown (Sydney) gives her take on all things stylish. Where to start: Click on the interior design category for some great eye candy.

4. Bloesem And while we’re globe trotting here is a design blog by a Dutch woman living in Kuala Lumpur. Where to start: The post on hanging plants. Why? Because every office needs a bit of green.

5.  Fine Ting Og Sjokolade Seems fitting to end in Norway with a blog in Norwegian (and a bit of English). I don’t read Norwegain but I do know a good blogger when I see one and this woman (who I suspect isn’t Twiggy) has a great eye for beautiful interiors, images and design. Where to start: Gulest, which I think means yellow. I spied a nice little Eames chair at the kitchen table.

Here’s our weekly round up of must-see sites:

1. BBC News You’re wondering why I’ve included a news site? Well they have an excellent section called Day in Pictures that collects really striking images from around the globe. Where to start: Today is pretty cool (Feb 19) – you’ll get floods in Indonesia, the start of Fashion Week in London and rebuilding in Haiti.

2. W Magazine Another left of centre choice but the home tours on W’s fashion site are wonderful. They are as opulent and fabulous as the fashion covered in the magazine. Where to start: I love the Marquess of Bute’s estate in Scotland. Now that’s a home office.

3. Inhabitat Great green design news. Where to start: Their interiors section – this clamp lamp would make a great desk light.

In a recent interview with Lifework Maxwell mentioned this British interiors magazine as a great source of inspiration. Where to start: The excellent photo galleries. Here’s the home office gallery.

5. Material Girls Put together by 5 designers it’s loaded with great images and well-researched reads on design. Where to start: A great post on desk chairs.

Wow – these come around fast. I feel like I put the last list together yesterday. Having said that I’ve got way more than I need for this list. But being a terribly disciplined editor I am only going to give you five!

1. A Desert Fete This funny, sparse blog always make me smile. Jamie lives in San Diego and has been blogging since mid-2008. Reminds me of life before kids and I like that. Where to start: Her post on hanging a branch above her bed made me laugh…mostly because I’ve done the same thing but it was a date palm branch.

2. Unclutterer Not to lose focus, lets get back to workspaces and our work lives. Unclutterer of the best organizer’s sites I’ve come across. Inspiring and informative without being dull and preachy. Plus it’s well designed. Look out for an interview with the editor, Erin Doland, next week. Where to start: I like the productivity posts…but that’s just me.

3. We Love Stop-Motion I know I just tried to bring the focus back but sometimes we need a break. Some might call it procrastination but a 3 minute time out is often al that’s needed to get through the next part of the day. Where to start: Please watch Her Morning Elegance. It’s lovely.

4. Design to Inspire Edited by two women who have never met but share a great eye for interiors and a passion for design. This blog never fails to offer up new and exciting work. They recently redesigned (it needed it!) and now the cleaner palette lets all those great images shine. Where to start: Try their Flickr round-up of work spaces.

5. IKEA Hacker It’s ugly ugly ugly but the amazing ingenuity of some of the hacks are amazing. There really are some very clever ideas here. Plus it has been going since 2006 which is a lifetime in the blogging world. I like that tenacity. Where to start: The pencil holder made from those lovely wooden IKEA pencils.
