High Five

By

Where we’ve been this week:

1. Teuxdeux A beautifully designed way to keep track of your week. This simple to-do list app that’s the result of a collaboration between studio-mates swissmiss and Fictive Kin. There aren’t bells and whistles – but then who needs that distraction when you’re trying to keep track of everything? Where to start? Watch the video.

2. Canadian House & Home The Olympics may be over but that doesn’t mean we have to completely abandon Canada. Canadian House & Home is a super stylish magazine with a content-rich website. Where to start: The home office gallery is full of inspiring spaces.

3. Notcot Founded by Jean Aw in March 2005, Notcot Inc is a blossoming group of design sites that includes NOTCOT.com. The special thing about Notcot is it’s voracious appetite for all things design. Where to start: Go straight to the Home+Decor section.

4. Murketing Written by Rob Walker , the man behind the New York Times’ magazine’s Consumed column, Murketing is a blog that covers the murky world of marketing. Walker says he’s not a traditional design critic, but he sure reads like one. Whatever he is, Walker has authored a really enjoyable, smart blog. Where to start: An interesting post on Gen Y and work.

5. Aisle One It’s always good to find a blog that covers design and is beautifully laid out – designer Antonio Carusone has created one of those rare gems. He’s a senior art director at Ogilvy and a member of the Thinking for a Living network. Where to start: It’s all very lovely to  look at but I found myself lingering in the shop. His letterpress calendar is on sale!

I Spy Something Beginning with ‘H’

By

Once you start looking you see Herman Miller pieces everywhere. This is the first in an occasional series where we will cover all the places we’ve spotted the good stuff. Let me know if you find anything. You can email me directly at cerentha_harris@hermanmiller.com.

Modern Findings: cat on a hot Eames rocker.

Curbly: Plastolux posts his home office complete with Aeron chair and vintage George Nelson desk.

Mark Wentzel: Those lovely fat Eames chairs. I know Mark made them in 2009 but I only just discovered them and I think they deserve a bit more attention.

Notcot: A chocolate Eames house. OK, again this was published a while ago but I bet a lot of you missed it. Canadian magazine The Block commissioned chocolate guru Thomas Haas to make the classic 1949 Eames Case Study house.

Apartment Therapy: Where’s the connection here? Well, the bunny is called Eames. And that’s it really. Although we did start with a cat. Get the full story on Pawesome.
