“I was born and raised in México city. I studied Psychology and had my private practice for a while. Since 2008 I have owned a small independent publisher for children’s books, the books are written by specialists and I put much effort in finding great illustrators so the illustrations look artistic and creative that way not only the kids can enjoy the books but the adults too. The publisher´s name is Sana Colita de Rana.

I recently moved to Dallas, TX with my husband. I continue with the publisher work but since I don´t have an office I use the kitchen/dining room which works out just fine…so far.

I am huge fan of desing objetcs and furniture. I spend my weekends looking for vintage or designs stores and reading desing magazines or looking at architectural books. Everytime I buy something, anything like a vintage radio, a high-end  lamp,  or a great sidetable or chair I feel it´s just for my collection, the same way when little girl I used to collect stickers or cool pencils.”

We’ve been hinting for a while now about a new design for Herman Miller by Yves Behar. It has finally arrived. Yves’ SAYL chair. Dexigner has jumped up and got the first interview – check it out here. Julia Bauer, who writes for The Grand Rapids Press also gave it a shout out. I have a feeling there’s going to be a lot of interest in this rather beautiful piece of design.

It’s amazing what a good desk lamp can do nowadays. The Leaf Light works hard on a number of levels. It’s an elegant design that uses as little material as possible with 96% of the finished object being recyclable. Its LED system allows you, with the slide of a finger, to change the light from warm to cool. And, as with all Behar’s work, it looks good. 2. Habitually Chic A blog is produced by Heather Clawson, a New York-based interior designer who has been blogging since 2007. 3. Jen Bekman This art-dealer/curator/writer and entrepreneur opened her Manhattan gallery in 2003. She also sells fine art prints online at 20×200 and runs an international photography competition Hey, Hot Shot! In her spare time she blogs a mix of news about her gallery, the artists involved and design that has caught her eye. Where to start: Gregory Krum’s home.

4. Reed Pages I interviewed the awesome Jeff Ng this week and was impressed with his online magazine, Reed Pages. There are quite a few behind-the-scenes stories that include cool workspaces. I wanted to mention it again today in case anyone missed it. Where to start: Page 32, the Fader Magazine piece. I can’t link to it directly – you have to sign in with you own email address. 5. Red Glasses Caroline Pelletier is an interactive marketer based in Montreal. She blogs about trends and designs. Where to start: Her excellent home office round-up.

There’s a great interview with Yves Behar over at Inhabitat. Behar designed the Leaf and Ardea lights for Herman Miller. He is the key speaker at the Greener Gadgets Conference this week where he’ll discuss his work including the super cool little tablet computer he designed for the One Laptop Per Child project.

We asked Yves Behar, who designed the Leaf and Ardea lights for Herman Miller, to think about gifts that would sit beautifully in anyone’s home office. Here are his recommendations.

1.
