The Next Generation
We recently received this photo of a true Herman Miller fan. Temma Gentles, a Canadian designer and textile artist. I’ll let Temma speak for herself. The story is a good one!
“My daughter and family were visiting over the holidays from California. I gave Mahalia her first set of sewing cards. She flung the poncho I had made her over her head in order to free up her arms, and we hunkered down to “parallel play” in my studio. My husband, Paul Kay, happened to capture the activity. We often see Aeron chairs in movies and TV shows; this is our humble life, now with 3 generations of HM devotees.
I am third generation of a Toronto family working in textiles. I inherited love of cloth from my grandfather, but also severe osteoarthritis. He was unable to do his work by the time he was my age, and he lived another 30 years. These years could have been much happier and more productive for him if he had the benefit of joint replacements (I’ve had 7), and an Aeron chair to support him.”
Has anyone else been able to share their love of design?
