The Playlist: 10 Songs to Say Sayonara to Summer

By

Is it just us, or does it feel like the summer was over in a flash? At least we’ve still got the long Labor Day weekend to keep it going for a little while longer. Make it a good one with this easygoing compilation—a mix inspired by our 2011 summer Playlisters. We’d love to know what song typified you summer this year. Let us know in the comment section and we’ll put together a Lifework Reader’s Playlist for you.

I’m In Love With A Girl by Big Star

closely followed by:
Web In Front by Archers of Loaf

Haven’t listened to Big Star for a long time…heading over there right now. Thanks for the reminder!

How about “last good day of the year” by Cousteau. Kind of 60′s retro sound.

“Footprints” by Squeeze…”now the summer is over I can count the cost, footprints on the beaches are now footprints in the frost”

I live in Houston, Tx. It’s just you.

Hooray for Earth’s True Loves.

That is also the album title, and the whole record was my summer go-to. It has the rough edges of Sleigh Bells, the vocals of today’s Dream pop sound, but all exploding with a subdued exuberance.

Checking it out right now!
