The Playlist: WORKtoDATE Design Director Greg Bennett

By

Take a listen to our latest music mix straight from York, Pennsylvania and the Eames-inspired home office of WORKtoDATE design director Greg Bennett.

What do you listen to while you work? Rock, alternative, blues, jazz, hip hop, and TED Talks.

How do you listen? Headphones or Bose SoundDock.

Do you have any favorite music websites/providers? I often stream KEXP Seattle and WTMD Baltimore.

Does music influence your work? Absolutely—in particular, a poster I designed for the Society of Design promoting the visit of designer Armin Vit. I designed it while listening to “Mad Flava” by Fatboy Slim and made that claim on the poster itself.

Where do you find music recommendations? Who influences your musical taste? In addition to tagging everything I hear and like with Shazam, I frequently visit BASE, Stereogum, KEXP Seattle, WTMD Baltimore, and Pitchfork. My music taste is a reflection of the previously mentioned, as well as many live concerts and my friends.

If your work was a song, what would it be? “Will Do” by TV On The Radio.

Great space, good tunes!

I love those letterblocks in the top photo! Any idea of where someone can get blocks like that in nice fonts?

Hi Austin. A great place to start is Etsy.com. Use the “Vintage” option in the search field and type “letterpress letters.”

Good luck!

It looks as if the mac is set to be a big clock. Does anyone know what app or setting this is? I’d really like to use it!

Hi Chris. Info for you on that screensaver is here: http://www.hermanmiller.com/lifework/you-asked-for-itclock-screensaver/

Enjoy!
