Unplggd: All-in-One Printers

By

We’re printing less and less these days, but there are still times when we need to scan, copy, fax or print a document. Instead of having 3 devices scattered around the home or office, we highly recommend an all-in-one printer as a space-saving solution for home office setups.

Epson Artisan 835
Using a smart 7.8″ touch panel, the Artisan 835 prints Ultra Hi-Definition 4″ x 6″ photos in as fast as 10 seconds, and that’s a feature we really like. And, it’s fast for everyday projects as well with 9.5 ppm (black) and 9 ppm (color). You can use the Automatic Document Feeder to quickly copy, fax and scan stacks of originals. Print, scan, and access memory card slots from any room in the house with convenient Wi-Fi wireless networking and built-in Ethernet networking. Or, print directly from your iPhone or other mobile device. With automatic, two-sided printing, it also enables you and your family, to easily conserve paper.

Lexmark Pinnacle Pro901 All-in-One Printer
With included XL print cartridges that let you print 500 pages for as little as $4.99, this printer goes way beyond printing with a Web-connected touch screen, fax, and one-touch apps. You can create one-touch, custom shortcuts for operations that you use often, such as scanning a document to e-mail, accessing personalized content like weather and photos from the Internet, and printing your Google Calendar. Finally, experience WiFi-n with greater range and faster transfer speeds than WiFi-g, and trust WiFi Protected Setup to maintain easier and more secure connections.

The Canon PIXMA MG6120 delivers high performance, quality and true ease of use in one, sleek machine. It begins with a cool interface that Canon has created where the top of your printer turns into a touch panel. The Intelligent Touch System has touch sensitive controls so only the buttons you need will light up. Full HD Movie Print turns your favorite HD movie clips captured with compatible Canon EOS Digital SLR or PowerShot cameras into photo prints. Built-in Wi-Fi lets you easily print and scan wirelessly with the added ability to print your photos from compatible iPhone, iPod touch and Android devices. Includes six individual ink tanks plus a gray ink for professional color and black & white photos. Plus, Auto Document Fix delivers easy-to-view scans by advanced image analysis and area-by-area data correction, automatically. Wow, that’s a mouthful!

I got the Canon Pixma MG6120 for Chirstmans, and wrote a review on my blog (visit http://planetlotus.org/7caa88 to read it).
I really like that particular printer, but to get good prints you should use the Canon paper. My old HP was better at using cheaper/off-brand papers. Overall it’s a good printer, and the fact that it has six separate ink tanks is a huge bonus. I already had to exchange one, while the other were more than 2/3 full. Imagine how much ink I would have wasted otherwise…
