It does require some investment and you also have to give some thought as to backing up and sharing resources between the two machines. You definitely want to make sure both machines are backed up regularly. With regard to sharing, lets say you have an iTunes library on one machine. It would make sense to share it over the network with the second machine rather than duplicating the whole library. Another possibility is a server or NAS.

In any case, the original idea is great.</description>
