I like the idea of a push for standards. Looking at each of these designs I'm left wondering how to integrate them into my home office - I'm guessing others feel the same. It's an interesting challenge from a design point of view and maybe one Apple will tackle?

From a design standpoint whatever is cleaner is better, I would say. Wires are a necessary evil, but what if that evil could be eliminated?

The problem now is that the technology isn't small enough or integrated and since no one wants a sleeve about their preciously thin phone that doubles the thickness just for some wireless charging it remains unpopular. That's my reason anyway, perhaps it's just too new for the non-nerds to adopt and bring into popular demand.

It'll be great when it happens, but a push for standards would certainly help third party development.
