Product Story

Burdick Group tables have long been the epitome of sophisticated office furniture. When you first see the glass-topped tables, your immediate thought is probably “How can I get one?” That’s because of the striking look achieved by letting the glass top reveal the aluminum beam, the elegant and useful backbone of this uncommon furniture.

Now you can choose another opulent top—natural stone—for your Burdick Group round table. Beautiful? Yes. But these tables are also highly functional—in an executive office, conference room, reception area, even a dining room.

Endless Possibilities

With four available shapes and a straightforward, modular design, Burdick tables can be arranged on the beam in lots of configurations. Adding half rounds to a rectangular top makes a racetrack shape. Beams on three-point base assemblies can be combined to form L, S, T, or U shapes.

While many who choose Burdick Group tables for their executive offices select the solid glass top, the natural stone options that are now available present another beautiful choice. Two laminate work surfaces, each with a black vinyl edge, are also available.

Beautiful and Beautifully Made

Lovely to look at, the tables are fabricated from fine materials and a thoughtful design that allows cables to be routed along the beam and base assembly.

Plate-glass tabletops are 5/8-inch thick with polished edges. Natural stone tops have full bullnose edge profiles around the entire perimeter and are 3/4 inches thick. Laminate tops with black edges are available in two colors.

Tops attach to the beams, which are precision-tooled cast aluminum, available in 7- and 10-foot lengths. The top surface of the beam is painted to reduce glare and provide visual contrast. Steel leg columns are painted black umber; their aluminum bases feature adjustable 1/4-inch glides.

Made of glass, aluminum, steel, and stone, the tables are highly recyclable. Components can be dismantled within minutes for easy disposal.

Design Story

Given his background in exhibit display, it's not surprising that designer Bruce Burdick uses drama for a purpose. His Burdick Group tables are a perfect example. He describes them as "workbenches for executives." The tables demonstrate his belief that desks should be designed with the same dedication to superlative performance as custom golf clubs or a high-performance car.

The Burdick Group system, his first project for us, is a unique assemblage of work surfaces, paper handling and storage elements, and electronic equipment supports, located along a structural armature in whatever configuration best suits the way people work. It can be arranged in many different sizes and configurations and can change and grow to reflect changing work patterns.

It's no wonder that Burdick's design has created a lot of buzz and won awards. In 1980, the Burdick Group received design awards from the Institute of Business Designers and the Industrial Designers Society of America. The following year, Time magazine named the Burdick Group system one of the Best of 1981 for Industrial Design. Years later, the tables are considered contemporary classics, still working hard, still stunning, still desired.
