Working at Home

What's In It For You

Your Life

When you live and work at home

For more and more people, living and working at home are two parts of a single stream of activity—lifework. You live a life of integrated activities—work, family, kids, fun, learning, shopping, entertaining. Your home and its spaces are your base. We believe your home office and the furniture in it can help you work better, live smarter, and balance the competing demands on your time.

Design

Design

We have learned this view from some of the most famous designers of the past 75 years—Gilbert Rohde, Charles and Ray Eames, George Nelson, and Bill Stumpf. Their designs—some of which we have produced continuously for more than 50 years—help people around the world live and work better and more comfortably. We would like to put these designs to work for you.

Good design combines real function and good looks. For people working at home, we have furniture that not only looks good in all kinds of homes, but gives a level of performance already proven in homes and offices around the world.

Choices

Choices

At home, no one tells you what to put on the walls or where to put your things. We believe our job is to give you choices in function, aesthetics, and price—all based on a deep understanding of the science of ergonomics and human comfort.

The choices you make tell the story of your life and work. We believe the products we offer you—a range unified by a timeless sense of design—give you the chance to make your furniture and your work a seamless and integral part of your home. And we think the conversations and information on our site will help inform any decision you make about perhaps the two most important dimensions of your life—your home and your work.

Intelligence

Intelligence

Herman Miller is known as a pioneer in design and an advocate for healthful, good-looking, high-performance places to work. We have been designing innovative furniture since the 1930s, and we introduced ergonomic seating in 1976. Every product we make has thoughtful functionality built into it, whether it's a desk, a chair, or storage.

Whether you work at a desk or cross-legged on the floor, the furniture in your home work area should help you—use a laptop, put something away, or give you a place to spread things out. The intelligence in our designs comes from years of studying how people work—no matter where they are.
