Herman Miller’s Fuld Nesting Chair designed by Stefan Diez receives "Red Dot: Best of the Best" award for Product Design in the Office Chairs category
This award adds to Fuld’s first successful year of being available to commercial customers
Herman Miller is pleased to share Fuld Nesting Chair designed by Stefan Diez received the prestigious "Red Dot: Best of the Best" award for Product Design—the international design competition’s top distinction within the office chairs category. The Red Dot jury is made up of 40 international experts who test, discuss, and evaluate each entry individually. Designs are scored based on four qualities of good design: function, aesthetic, ease of use, and responsibility.
Introduced in September 2023, Fuld is Herman Miller’s first foray into nesting chairs, Fuld is distinguished by a sleek, minimalist design that enables flexible configurations for different uses whether it’s a breakout session, corporate training, or an educational event. Fuld eschews the typical X shape of a nesting chair for a streamlined inverted Y with tubular arms. The back has a touch of elasticity, which keeps individuals comfortable as they shift. With its unique lines and variety of colors, including monochromatic “dipped-in-color” options, the reimagined seating mainstay enlivens any space, even when stored in the open.
A long-standing commitment to the environment drove Diez's design of Fuld, which includes a minimalistic and pioneering one-piece construction where the back rest, arms and back legs are one continuous piece. Further contributing to its responsible design, Fuld comprises just two materials for easy recycling at the end of its lifecycle. An optional 3D Knit textile seat is made from 50 percent post-consumer recycled content, and because it's knitted to the chair's exact dimensions, there's no fabric waste.
In celebration of the achievement, Fuld Nesting Chair will be on display at Red Dot Design Museum Essen and featured in the Red Dot Design Yearbook and other communications.
