What's In It For You

Product Story

The Keyn Chair Group is an aesthetically versatile collection of meeting and side chairs for collaborative spaces that offers immediate comfort, supports people’s movements, and blends into a wide range of environments.

Responsive Movement

For sitting to be as healthful as possible, people are meant to shift and change positions frequently. Keyn makes this possible by responding to the body’s movements. Its patented mechanism allows the one-piece seat-and-back shell to slide smoothly and recline up to 10 degrees so that people are encouraged to move naturally and feel comfortable. This sense of ease allows the mind to focus, which can help increase productivity throughout the workday and during meetings.

The polished insides of the shell’s perforated pattern reflect the chair’s color and add a textural depth, further distinguishing the design and contributing to its lightweight aesthetic. The perforation pattern also provides aeration for the back.

Universal Refinement

A key consideration of forpeople’s design approach was to ensure that each variation of the chair had the same universal appeal. A refined design was achieved based on four key parts: the base, cradle, seat shell, and a selection of upholstery options. Keyn’s global availability makes it an appealing choice for customers with locations around the world seeking consistency from site to site.

Range of Looks and Applications

Keyn chairs are versatile in appearance and function. A range of looks can be achieved by combining bases (four-leg and four-star), shell and frame finishes, arm selections, and a broad choice of upholstery materials for the seat pad. Four-leg chairs can easily be stacked and stowed when not in use. The four-star base option has a return-to-center swivel that ensures meeting spaces always look great, even when they’re empty.

Whether bold and playful or sophisticated and subdued, the Keyn Chair Group can be applied throughout an organization with a customer’s desired degree of consistency. From the meeting room to the cafeteria to a private office, Keyn can find a home anywhere.

Design Story

The Keyn Chair Group, designed by the London firm forpeople, is a collection of meeting and side chairs for collaborative spaces with a sliding one-piece seat-and-back shell that offers immediate comfort. Observations of meetings showed that people continuously shift in their seats, leaning forward or stretching back, typically up to 57 times an hour, so early on in the process the designers knew they wanted the chair to move. People expect movement in their task chair, so it made perfect sense that a chair for collaborative spaces should support and respond to those movements too.

Visually, Keyn is one chair with many personalities. It uses four key parts to create every model in the group, so each retains universal appeal marked by an array of base and upholstery options. Keyn Chairs can stand out independently but can also work in harmony as a family.
