Nemschoff Captures 2013 Best of NeoCon Silver Award for Treatment Area Design
Herman Miller Company Honored for Putting Patients First with New Terra Design
Recognized for its patient-centered approach to healthcare and commitment to flexible design, Nemschoff, along with Herman Miller Healthcare, received a 2013 Best of NeoCon® Silver for Terra, a configurable system of components that improves the experience for patients undergoing medical treatment as well as their guests and caregivers. In its 24th year, the Best of NeoCon Awards honor the newest and most promising products showcased at NeoCon World’s Trade Fair, the contract design and furnishing industry’s largest conference and exhibition.
“Outpatient cancer-care encounters are predicted to increase by 30 percent over the next decade, so the changing needs of patients, guests and caregivers must be addressed,” said Louise McDonald, president, Herman Miller Healthcare and Nemschoff. “We believe flexible space design and furnishings will play a powerful part in doing so. The Best of NeoCon recognition is a vote of confidence in the potential that our solutions – specifically Terra – have for helping transform healthcare facilities to meet the evolving needs in areas where prolonged treatments are delivered.”
Available in either preconfigured bays or individual specified components, Terra is designed to meet the differing needs of users and varying price and space requirements of treatment centers. Bringing a human element to infusion treatment, Terra allows patients to control their surroundings, giving them the ability to socialize or relax in privacy. Terra also accommodates guests with an optional mobile bench, which allows visitors to change locations depending on individuals’ needs or desires. Streamlining a caregiver’s tasks, Terra offers integrated charting areas and technology needs. The system’s easy-to-clean surfaces also withstand heavy use and harsh cleaners.
Presented at NeoCon by Contract Magazine, the prestigious Best of NeoCon Awards celebrate new commercial interior products spanning 39 categories. Hundreds of entries were judged by a panel of 45 industry experts on the criteria of functionality, flexibility, quality/durability, aesthics/style, innovation, environmental sustainability and pricing.
