The American Institute of Architects Committee on the Environment (AIA/COTE) has selected the Herman Miller MarketPlace as one of its 2003 Top 10 Green Projects.
A distinguished panel of AIA jurors meeting at Institute's Washington, D.C. headquarters made the AIA/COTE selections.
The MarketPlace, a built-to-suit office property that Herman Miller helped design and presently leases in Zeeland, Mich., has earned national recognition both for its wise use of building materials and its energy efficiency. The building also recently earned Gold LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification from the U.S. Green Buildings Council (USGBC).
A presentation of winning projects will be held at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. on May 1, 2003 from 6:30 - 8:00 pm. 2003 AIA COTE Chair, Daniel E. Williams, FAIA, will present this year's winners. The presentation boards will also be on exhibit in the Great Hall of the National Building Museum for this event.
The 2003 Top Ten Green Projects also will be featured in exhibitions and presentations at venues nationally, including the AIA's National Convention and Expo in San Diego, May 8-11, 2003.
Winners were announced by AIA on Earth Day, April 22, 2003.
