Geiger International, designer and manufacturer of modular wood case goods and architectural furniture for the executive office market, will introduce the Caucus table collection during the NeoCon World's Trade Fair in Chicago's Merchandise Mart from June 11-13, 2007. Caucus tables will be displayed in both the Herman Miller showroom within the Mart, as well as in Geiger's showroom at 300 West Hubbard Street, Suite 400.
Designed by Robert Allen, Caucus brings sleek aesthetics to the workplace with products that harness the qualities of nature, offering an appealing choice for those seeking elegant sophistication and clean minimalist expression.
"Geiger has made it very clear to all of us who designed product for the company over the years that our goal was smartly tailored product that reinforced the tenets of modern design-timeless architecture and truth in detail," said Allen, who works out of Metalhouse, a design firm in Rowayton, Connecticut. "I've always kept those words close to heart and this product is no exception."
"One of the main tenets of Geiger's philosophy has always been to offer products that provide for maximum flexibility and capacity and that adapt seamlessly, without ego, to specific project client needs," he added. "This philosophy guided every decision we made in this product's development."
Allen integrated clean, precise lines into two categories of Caucus. Within those categories, the sizes and variations of the tables are limitless. Caucus can accommodate intimate meeting spaces or sizeable presentation areas and boardrooms.
The collection includes lightweight tables with single-shaped legs and tables with heavier legs, which are constructed with a plinth base. These high-capacity plinth legs offer three different extensions and each leg has triangular support brackets designed to work with the base to support an impressive range of width and weight configurations.
The plinth leg covers and conceals all typical floor power sources. The interior of the leg is fully accessible and conveniently configured for easy mounting of all power and data boxes as well as provide for excess wire storage. From the leg, the wiring feeds into a shallow trough system that runs the length of the table and enables all wiring to be easily installed, distributed, and accessed.
Full access to power is achieved through a double-hinge lid, which provides convenient access from both sides of the table.
"Geiger believes in creating flexible and adaptable products-and Caucus demonstrates this in an exemplary and beautiful way," said Mike Milligan, Director of Product Marketing for Geiger. "Robert Allen also designed the Tablet case goods system for Geiger, so he deeply understands the importance of these elements. With Caucus, he designed a collection of tables unlike anything else on the market."
Sustainable Materials
Geiger is committed to protecting the environment through the use of low volatile organic compounds (VOCs), water-borne stains, and ensuring its selection of woods are gathered from trees grown in sustainable forests.
Caucus tabletops may be fitted with a full range of woods. Its trough insert panels may be specified in a matching or contrasting wood, silver or white back-painted acrylic, leathers from Geiger or selected Edelman collecions, or in clear aluminum. The plinth leg cladding may be fitted to match the materials specified for the tabletop and insert panels, or be ordered in a simple silver finish.
Additionally, Geiger's concern for sustainable issues translated into considerable review of panel and packing sizes, materials selections, and overall assembly systems. Allen's long-time passion for responsible stewardship toward the environment complements Geiger's sustainability efforts. He noted the intent for Caucus "was to let the design and detail make the statement, not exotic materials or finishes."
