Magis Steelwood Chair

Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec call their Steelwood Chair “stable and democratic, universal and long-lasting.” The design thoughtfully combines two traditional materials, wood and steel (in painted and galvanized versions) to communicate both warmth and strength. This combination contributes to casual or elegant settings and the option of an upholstered seat offers additional comfort.

Skilled metalworkers in Italy use a series of complex mechanical procedures to gradually shear and shape the metal pieces. The legs and round seat are milled out of solid wood. Offered in a selection of painted or natural finishes and frame colors, the chair’s subtle silhouette adapts to a number of environments.

“Part of the chair says, ‘Believe me that I’m a chair that will last.’”
