When asked who he thinks about when he designs, Jon Eells answers, “Myself ... Just kidding. Actually, there is some truth to this as I often question if I were the user, the patient, or the operator, what challenges or benefits would I be expecting—consciously or subliminally—from the design?”

His work is also informed by his experience as a field sales rep, along with woodworking knowledge, which helps him understand manufacturing constraints. He adds, “Much of my inspiration comes from a lifetime of immersion in classical art and design. Experience has shown me that the great movements of history are always interconnected. I try to draw on that DNA.”

Eells has over three decades of experience as a furniture designer.
